Ka Yee believes that positive learning behaviors correlate with academic results. Therefore, her research focuses on utilizing digital tools such as interactive videos and GenAI in teaching to improve learning behavior, hence, better educational results.
She was born to a Chinese family and immigrated to Alberta, Canada at the age of three. As a child growing up in an immigrant family, she experienced both Eastern and Western cultures, which greatly contributed to her perspective on education.
Ka Yee began her teaching career as a teaching assistant in Biochemistry when she was in her graduate studies. Upon graduating, she became a Mathematics lecturer at a UGC funded university. Aside from teaching, she mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students with start-up projects.
