How did we come up with KIS?
The inspiration for Keep it Simple traces back to a fundraising project at our junior high school. The fund's purpose was to establish a clean water system in a developing country while educating us on the importance of people having access to clean water. The campaign highlighted that supplying clean water periodically is not a solution to help people in need truly. Instead, it is about creating a sustainable solution that can make a long-lasting impact, i.e., building a water supply system with sanitation. This insight became the cornerstone of our KIS social enterprise's philosophy.
KIS is a social enterprise that leads participants to foster intrinsic motivation based on the Self-Determination Theory through promoting autonomy, that is, participants are encouraged to build projects based on their interest and passion, cultivate skills for competency, and create a community for relatedness. With our support, participants can create a sustainable project for future endeavors based on these three key pillars.
